Killing Floor 3, the eagerly awaited survival horror zombie co-op FPS, has been delayed to a later date in 2025. This announcement comes just three weeks before its original release date, spurred by feedback from a disappointing closed beta phase. Dive deeper into the details of this significant delay.

On March 7th, 2025, Tripwire Interactive, the developers behind Killing Floor 3 (KF3), took to the game's official Bluesky account to announce a postponement to an unspecified date later in 2025. This decision follows a less-than-stellar closed beta test, just weeks before the game's planned launch on March 25th.
In their statement, Tripwire Interactive expressed their commitment to enhancing the game: "We’ve decided to delay Killing Floor 3’s release to later in 2025. Our closed beta feedback showed us that we need more time to refine the game. We aim not only to push the boundaries of the franchise but also to preserve the essence that fans cherish." The team pinpointed areas for improvement, including performance and stability, UI/UX, lighting, and the feel of weapons.
The community's reaction was swift and vocal on social media platforms. Players described the beta as "clunky and clumsy," and "an unpolished, glitch-filled experience." Reddit user Captain_Pugman voiced a common sentiment: "It seems like Killing Floor 3 is straying too far from its roots. It's trying to be everything but a true Killing Floor game." Fans also criticized the shift towards a futuristic sci-fi theme, diluting the horror elements that define the series, along with the inability to choose characters and classes independently due to the character-locked system during the beta.
Tripwire Interactive ended their announcement on a hopeful note, promising a more refined version of KF3: "We're eager to showcase an improved Killing Floor 3. We'll keep you updated as we progress. Thank you for your patience and continued support."
In response to the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro provided clarity on the fate of digital pre-orders on the Tripwire Interactive forums. Once the delay is updated across all platforms, the refund process will commence.
For those who pre-ordered on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Game Store, refunds will be processed automatically without any action required from the user. However, U.S. PlayStation users will have the option to either cancel their pre-order for a refund or maintain it for the new release date, with the default action being cancellation and refund if no response is received.
Steam users, however, will need to manually initiate a refund by canceling their order and requesting a refund through Steam's support system. Customers who pre-ordered through other third-party vendors will need to follow the specific refund policies of those platforms.
