Rockstar, the creators of the GTA series, have released an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile devices. After a six-year hiatus, this update is exclusive to mobile platforms and not available on console or PC.
Bully: Anniversary Edition has been enhanced with new language support, and the patch primarily focuses on stability improvements and bug fixes. Notably, Rockstar has temporarily disabled Friends Challenges to ensure a smoother experience.
The update introduces Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) for Android users with compatible devices, refreshes the app icon, and adds haptic feedback across both iOS and Android platforms.
Several mission-specific issues have been addressed, including fixes for 'That Bitch,' where players couldn't pick Mandy’s locker, 'Weed Killer,' which halted progress if the window was broken prematurely, and 'The Rumble,' where police cars previously fell through the floor.
Additionally, the update resolves gameplay issues where enemies wouldn't engage Jimmy Hopkins, leading to unbalanced fights. It also fixes crashes that occurred when starting a new game or loading a saved game from the pause menu.
The gaming community has long been clamoring for Bully 2, but Rockstar's focus has shifted to other projects. Although a sequel was in development during the 2010s, it was ultimately shelved to prioritize Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online. With GTA 6 now on the horizon, the prospects for Bully 2 seem dim, especially as many of the original team members have moved on from Rockstar.
While the new update isn't a full remaster or a sequel, it offers a significant enhancement for mobile players. For those unfamiliar with Bully, it's Rockstar's unique take on a schoolyard sandbox game. You step into the shoes of Jimmy Hopkins, a 15-year-old rebel navigating the challenges of Bullworth Academy, with the signature Rockstar humor and open-world mischief.
You can download Bully: Anniversary Edition from the Google Play Store for €7.99, with full gamepad support included.
