inZOI Developers Address Questions About Mature Content

A "Sort Of" Intimacy Feature Is Planned

With inZOI approaching early access, players are curious about which features will be included—especially those related to sexuality and nudity. During a live "Ask Me (almost) Anything" session in the official inZOI Discord, three team leads fielded questions, with translations provided by Assistant Director Joel Lee.

Many questions focused on realism—such as infant care, body proportions, and driving mechanics. However, a common theme emerged regarding mature content, particularly sex and nudity.

Lee offered a work-safe response, stating, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game where it's clear what's happening—a male Zoi and a female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of having a baby. But visually, it's left to the imagination. What you see isn't explicit; you have to infer what's taking place. Is that clear enough? The feature is there. Sort of. Perhaps not to the extent some players might expect."

While the details remain somewhat ambiguous, this confirms that an intimacy feature will be part of inZOI, though its presentation will be adjusted to suit a broader audience. Given inZOI's emphasis on realism, fans can anticipate a more grounded approach compared to the stylized, playful handling seen in games like The Sims.

Blur Effects Don't Suit inZOI's Visual Style

When players asked why Zois shower with towels on, the developers explained that blur effects don't blend well with the game's art direction. Pixelated blurring works in cartoonish games like The Sims, but not in inZOI.

Because inZOI employs a more realistic art style, applying a pixelated blur felt more suggestive than simply showing a towel. During testing, a bug also allowed players to see unedited Zoi reflections in mirrors—completely nude—which the team promptly resolved.

Designing inZOI for a Broad Audience

Despite the mature themes in discussion, inZOI has already received a T for Teen rating from the ESRB, similar to The Sims 4. This ensures the game remains appropriate for a wide range of players, even with its more suggestive features. Lee emphasized the team's goal to make the game widely accessible, saying, "We wanted to create a game that as many age groups as possible could enjoy."

The developers have announced a live stream for March 19, 2025, at 01:00 UTC on inZOI's official YouTube and Twitch channels. Viewers can expect details on early access pricing, DLC plans, the development roadmap, and answers to fan questions.
