Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Update Enhances Banner System, Boosts Player Freedom

by Sadie Apr 23,2025

Gacha mechanics are a pivotal element of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo (now known as HoYoverse) is set to enhance player control over character pulls. Exciting leaks from Sakura Haven indicate that starting with version 3.2, the game's banner system will undergo significant changes, introducing a fresh approach to how players engage with the gacha mechanics.

The upcoming 3.2 update is rumored to feature a customizable pity system for limited banners. This new system will allow players to handpick their preferred characters from a specific set, rather than being confined to a standard pool for 50/50 pity pulls. By selecting characters from a designated 'Group,' players can customize their 50/50 pity pool, replacing the default characters entirely or partially. This innovative feature empowers players to influence their rewards more directly.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool includes 7 standard characters. With the 3.2 update, this will transition to a 'Group' from which players can choose their preferred 7 characters to form their personalized pity pool. Consequently, if a player loses a 50/50 roll, they will receive a character from their customized pool instead of the default selection.

The 'Group' will initially comprise the 7 standard characters along with a curated selection of additional characters available for choice. This change is poised to greatly enhance player satisfaction by minimizing frustration and offering more flexibility. By enabling players to tailor their pity pool, miHoYo addresses a frequent grievance with gacha systems—the unpredictability of pity roll outcomes. With this customization, players stand a better chance of acquiring characters that align with their playstyle or preferences.

However, the specifics of which characters will be included in the selectable pool are still under wraps. It remains to be seen whether the pool will consist of past limited characters, current banner units, or entirely new additions.

These proposed changes demonstrate miHoYo's ongoing commitment to refining Honkai Star Rail and enhancing its player-friendliness. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers acknowledge the significance of player choice within gacha games. This move could establish a new benchmark for similar systems in other titles.

While the full impact and implementation of this feature are yet to be revealed, the announcement has already ignited excitement within the Honkai Star Rail community. Players are eagerly anticipating how these updates will transform their gameplay experience when version 3.2 is released.
