Facing the Congalala requires constant movement due to its size and agility. Avoid positioning yourself directly in front or behind the beast to minimize the impact of its potent breath attacks. Be wary of its powerful hand smashes, tail whips, and long-range breath attacks.

Focus your attacks on the Congalala's breakable parts for maximum damage. Start with the forelegs, as they are the easiest to target when the beast is momentarily vulnerable after its attacks. For the head, tail, and rear, wait for the Congalala to consume a mushroom, which it visibly does before expelling gas from either its front or rear. Strike these parts when it's safe to do so, avoiding the gas.

If you get hit by the fumes, use deodorant or roll through water to negate the effects. Exploit any wounds you create with Focus Mode and Focus Strikes to deliver significant damage and interrupt the Congalala's attacks, especially its breath or ground-smashing moves.

Capturing the Congalala requires reducing its health until the skull icon appears on the minimap and your character or other hunters comment on its weakened state. Track the beast to its resting spot where it attempts to recover. Set up either a Shock or Pitfall Trap near its resting place, switch to Tranq Bombs, and wake the monster to lure it into the trap. Once trapped, throw 2 to 3 Tranq Bombs to successfully capture the Congalala.
