The game director of The Blood Of Dawnwalker explained why he quit CDPR and opened his own studio

After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several CD Projekt RED experts, including some key figures behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, departed to pursue new ventures.

Recently unveiled, The Blood of Dawnwalker is the brainchild of Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran from CD Projekt RED.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, in explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key factors:

The desire to explore new creative avenues with trusted friends fueled the creation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their rich history provided a foundation, but they envisioned pushing the boundaries of established RPG conventions. They conceived ambitious, unconventional ideas. The difficulty in convincing a large corporation to embrace such radical changes, especially with new intellectual property, led them to establish their own studio. This independent approach allowed them to take on the inherent risks associated with their innovative solutions.

Unlike larger studios, Rebel Wolves prioritizes close collaboration and strong interpersonal relationships. Tomaszkiewicz believes a smaller team fosters better communication and facilitates a more cohesive vision. This streamlined environment makes it easier to maintain creative energy and develop truly unique concepts.
