Fantastic Four Trailer Debuts: Baby Franklin, Thing Spotted

by Savannah Oct 16,2025

Marvel has dropped an exciting new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, giving us our first glimpse of baby Franklin Richards along with that highly anticipated line fans have been dying to hear.

While much of the trailer mirrors previously released footage meant to hype ticket sales for the upcoming MCU film, it does feature a heartwarming new shot—Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic and Sue Storm / Invisible Woman cozied up in bed with their infant son, Franklin, marking the character’s official debut.

Why Does This Matter?

In a recent Empire Magazine interview, Vanessa Kirby (who plays Sue Storm) dropped a tantalizing hint that sent shockwaves through the MCU fandom: "It’s not just adults that have superpowers."

The trailer confirms Sue is pregnant in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and we’ll at least see Franklin as a baby—which is massive for the MCU. As IGN previously noted:

Anyone familiar with the Fantastic Four comics knows this is groundbreaking for Marvel Studios. They're introducing arguably the most powerful mutant in existence—and possibly his equally brilliant sister? Let’s break down why Sue’s pregnancy reshapes the MCU’s future.

Franklin is effortlessly among the most formidable beings in Marvel lore. He bends reality and matter effortlessly—capable of conjuring entire universes from thin air. His abilities don’t stop there; telepathy, telekinesis, and astral projection are just the beginning.

In essence, Franklin’s might rivals cosmic entities like Galactus and the Celestials. And frighteningly, he strengthens with age. Future versions have appeared throughout FF stories, hinting he’ll evolve into an immortal guardian of the Marvel cosmos.

So—could Franklin rapidly age within the film and aid the Fantastic Four against Galactus? Does Sue's pregnancy mean First Steps unfolds over years? Kirby’s tease suggests we’ll see Franklin’s powers hinted at, at minimum.

Elsewhere, we finally hear Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm / The Thing roar "Hell yeah!" when Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) asks the iconic question: "Is it clobberin’ time?" —A moment fans have eagerly awaited!

The hype around The Fantastic Four: First Steps keeps building as its July release nears. Director Matt Shakman recently addressed rumors of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appearing, seemingly dismissing them—though fans remain convinced the villain will surface (likely post-credits).

Last month revealed more key details, including the film’s runtime (the MCU’s longest since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), a leaked glimpse of Galactus via Ralph Ineson’s Snapple cameo, and potential spoilers via Funko Pop! figures.
