Epic Games' Freebie for January 16th Out Now

Escape Academy is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, 2025. This escape-room style puzzle game, developed by Coin Crew Games, will be available for a week, until January 23rd. This marks the second time Escape Academy has been offered for free on the EGS, but the first time for a full week. Its previous free period was a shorter mystery game offering on January 1st, 2024.

This timing is particularly beneficial for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as the game is leaving the service on January 15th.

Escape Academy boasts a strong "Strong" rating on OpenCritic (80 average score, 88% recommendation), making it the highest-rated free game offered by the EGS in 2025 thus far. Positive player reviews across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox stores further solidify its appeal. The game supports both solo play and well-regarded online/split-screen multiplayer, enhancing its co-op puzzle game experience.

This is the fourth free game offered by Epic Games Store in 2025, following Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Hell Let Loose, and Turmoil. The announcement of the fifth free game is anticipated on January 16th. Two DLC packs, Escape From Anti-Escape Island and Escape From the Past, are available for purchase separately or as a Season Pass.
