Over the past decade, the gaming landscape has transformed dramatically, with cross-platform play evolving from a distant dream to a standard feature in many titles, including *Call of Duty*. While crossplay has united the *Call of Duty* community, it also introduces certain challenges. If you're playing *Black Ops 6*, here's a comprehensive guide on how to disable crossplay and the pros and cons of doing so.
The decision to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is nuanced. Many players opt to turn off this feature to ensure a more level playing field, particularly console players who want to avoid competing against PC users. The primary reason is the difference in input methods; PC players using a mouse and keyboard can achieve more precise aiming compared to those using a controller on consoles. Additionally, PC players might have easier access to mods and cheats, despite *Call of Duty*'s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system. Players have reported encountering hackers and cheaters in *Black Ops 6* and *Warzone*, and disabling crossplay might reduce these encounters.
However, there's a significant downside to consider. Disabling crossplay shrinks the pool of available players for matchmaking, which can lead to longer wait times for matches and potentially poorer connection quality among players in the same lobby.

Disabling crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a simple process. Navigate to the Account & Network settings, where you'll find the Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggle at the top. Use your controller to press X or A to switch the setting from On to Off. This can be done within *Black Ops 6*, *Warzone*, or directly from the *Call of Duty* HQ page. For quicker access, you can favorite the Crossplay setting and place it in Quick Settings, as shown in the image above.
Be aware that the setting might appear greyed out and locked during certain game modes, such as Ranked Play, where *Call of Duty* has enforced crossplay to ensure competitive balance. However, from Season 2 of *Black Ops 6*, players will have the option to disable crossplay even in these high-stakes modes, giving them greater control over their gaming experience.
*Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
