Diablo 4: Iconic WoW Weapon Poised for Addition

Diablo 4 Season 5 may bring a legendary crossover: Frostmourne, the iconic World of Warcraft Lich King's weapon. Data mining of the Season 5 Public Test Realm (PTR) revealed models strongly resembling Frostmourne, hinting at its potential inclusion. The second PTR, running until July 2nd, precedes the expected August release of Season 5, which will also feature new quests, items, and challenges leading up to the October 8th launch of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred.

The discovery, made by Wowhead, shows two distinct models, suggesting a possible one-handed and two-handed version of the blade. While its exact implementation remains uncertain – cosmetic, legendary weapon, or another function entirely – the possibility of wielding Frostmourne in Diablo 4 is exciting. This would mark a significant departure, as Frostmourne is unavailable for direct use in World of Warcraft itself.

This isn't the first WoW crossover. Last October, Diablo 4's in-game store offered Invincible, a rare WoW mount, complete with Frostmourne and the Helm of Domination as cosmetic items. However, the Season 5 addition might allow actual weapon usage, not just visual representation.

Season 5's class weapon expansions further fuel speculation. Druids gain access to polearms, one-handed swords, and daggers; Necromancers receive maces and axes; and Sorcerers unlock one-handed swords and maces. A one-handed Frostmourne would thus be usable by every class in Diablo 4. The upcoming season promises exciting possibilities for players.
