Devil's Purge Goes Free-to-Play, Expands Soundtrack

by Madison Apr 22,2025

During my trip to Portugal last year, I had the opportunity to dive into one of the most exciting upcoming releases: Devil's Purge. Developed by Ontop, this augmented reality (AR) shooter lets you battle demons and the devil himself, all set to a pulsating heavy metal soundtrack. If you've been hesitant to try Devil's Purge, now's the perfect time to jump in, as the game is not only expanding its soundtrack but also transitioning to a free-to-play model!

Drawing inspiration from its spiritual predecessor Doom, Devil's Purge adopts a shareware approach. This means you can experience the initial levels out of over 60 for free, with the option to unlock the full game through a one-time purchase. The gameplay is far from static; you'll need to move actively to dodge enemies and uncover their weak spots, making it a far cry from games like Pokemon Go.

The latest update introduces a host of new tracks to the already intense soundtrack, featuring music from independent metal artists such as Avesso, Visceral, Zero Massive, Tales for the Unspoken, and many others. With over 60 levels and a new combat system that allows you to customize your equipment right from the start using resources from previous sessions, there's never been a better time to take on the forces of Hell!

The shift to free-to-play begins today, and you can find Devil's Purge on the iOS App Store. Start blasting the forces of Hell with the initial levels available for free!

If you're looking for something completely different, why not check out Catherine Dellosa's thoughts on the charming, cozy culinary simulator Cat Restaurant in our regular feature, Ahead of the Game? It covers upcoming releases you can try before their official launch.
