Netflix unveiled the opening trailer for its upcoming Devil May Cry anime adaptation, shortly after announcing its April 3rd, 2025 premiere date. The trailer, set to Limp Bizkit's iconic "Rollin'," showcases dynamic action sequences featuring a young Dante, Lady, and the enigmatic White Rabbit, packed with nods to the game franchise.
Showrunner Adi Shankar elaborated on his vision, explaining the series' late 90s/early 2000s setting and its accompanying soundtrack, which prominently features nu-metal alongside other period-specific tracks. A reimagined synthwave score by Power Glove, drawing inspiration from the games' soundtracks, is also planned.
Shankar hinted at a multi-season arc, promising diverse visual styles and soundtracks for subsequent seasons to reflect the varied nature of the Devil May Cry games.
While plot details remain under wraps, the first season, comprising eight episodes, is anticipated to adapt elements from the Devil May Cry 3 manga, Code 1: Dante. This adaptation will center on a young Dante investigating a child's disappearance, forcing him to confront his father Sparda's demonic legacy and his own family history.
