Cyberpunk 2077’s Planned Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Expansion Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077's scrapped lunar DLC, a project of ambitious scale, has been partially revealed through data mining by SirMZK. Leaks unearthed from the game's code reveal extensive plans for a moon-based expansion, featuring detailed lunar surface maps, designated zones like an "Exterior Movie Set" and a "Drug Lab," and even a rover model. The sheer size of this intended location was staggering, potentially encompassing a quarter of Night City's area as an open-world environment. This would have dramatically expanded gameplay, transporting players far beyond the familiar neon-drenched streets.

A key element of this DLC was to be the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. While cut from the final game, players can briefly see the Crystal Palace in one of Cyberpunk 2077's endings, glimpsed through a spaceship window. Further data reveals a prototype for a zero-gravity bar, connected to a removed quest (codenamed "201") linked to the Arasaka storyline.

Hope remains that elements of this ambitious lunar DLC might find their way into CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, an expansion of the Cyberpunk universe. However, the studio has yet to officially confirm the reuse of any of these concepts.

Despite remaining unrealized, the unearthed details offer a captivating glimpse into what could have been: a daring expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 into the cosmos, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's distinctive cyberpunk style.
