Assassin's Creed Shadows Adds Critical Role Star as Ally

by Samuel Oct 15,2025

Critical Role star Robbie Daymond joins Assassin's Creed Shadows next week as a new recruitable ally for Yasuke and Naoe.

Daymond will portray Rufino, a character he originally created for an Assassin's Creed Shadows promotional one-shot. Concept art reveals Rufino wearing Portuguese-style attire complete with an elaborate mustache.

Rufino arrives as a playable ally in Shadows' June 25 update, marking the latest free post-launch content following the recent Dead by Daylight crossover mission.

While previous Shadows add-ons offered brief 20-minute experiences, Rufino's status as one of only six recruitable allies suggests greater gameplay potential.

The exact nature of Rufino's role remains uncertain - will he assist in combat like other allies? Could players pursue romantic storylines with him? Or will he simply occupy the hideout? Answers arrive next week.

The June update also introduces new difficulty options, immersion settings, an open-world alert system, and the highly requested toggle for headgear visibility during cutscenes.

Future updates will deliver New Game Plus mode and additional story content, including more crossovers. The first major expansion - Claws of Awaji - arrives later in 2025, extending the main story with a new Japanese region to explore.
