Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Launched at $2,399

by Audrey May 03,2025

Starting today, Dell is offering an incredible deal on the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC, now equipped with the powerful new GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for just $2,399.99 shipped. This price point makes it one of the most affordable options for an RTX 5080 prebuilt system on the market, especially given the steady price increases from other brands since the RTX 50 series launch in January. At Dell, the only other prebuilt PC with an RTX 5080 GPU is priced over $4,000. If you're considering building your own PC, good luck finding a standalone RTX 5080 GPU; you might end up spending as much on just the GPU as you would on this entire system.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC is packed with top-tier components including an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The current-gen Intel Core Ultra 7 265F Meteor Lake CPU can reach a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz with 20 cores and a 30MB cache. It's cooled efficiently by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler, and the system is powered by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 5080 is one of the three new Blackwell graphics cards that are currently in high demand and nearly impossible to find. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie notes, "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not justify the upgrade – it doesn’t offer a significant performance leap over the RTX 4080, although the additional frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation enhance visuals in supported games. However, for gamers upgrading from older graphics cards, the RTX 5080 delivers a substantial performance boost, especially when leveraging Nvidia’s AI enhancements."

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is reminiscent of the 2024 R16 model but features subtle aesthetic and cooling upgrades along with updated components. The I/O panel is now located at the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass window covers the entire side panel for a sleek look. Air intakes are now at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the interior less dusty. The internal components have been fully refreshed with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The initial release of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards sold out within an hour of preorders opening. The highest-end models, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, were the first to be released, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti in February. Similarly, prebuilt gaming PCs equipped with these GPUs are either out of stock, have increased in price, or are facing extended delivery delays.
