AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 million for cancer research.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefited from the record-breaking Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, which concluded on January 13th. The event raised over $2.5 million, a significant increase of over $100,000 compared to the 2024 total. This substantial contribution supports the foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness initiatives.

AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing gaming talent across various genres. The event's success builds upon a long-standing partnership between Games Done Quick (GDQ) and the Prevent Cancer Foundation, with over $26 million raised collectively through past GDQ events. The marathon kicked off with a swift Pikmin (Switch) run by Ray0ken.

A standout moment was a creative and highly successful Crazy Taxi speedrun. Speedrunner Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing the game's soundtrack, completed the run in just 18 minutes, generating over $24,000 in donations. This innovative approach navigated the challenges of copyrighted music typically associated with streaming the game.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, resulting in a nail-biting finish with two runners separated by only a second.

GDQ's fundraising efforts continue with Summer Games Done Quick 2025, scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders. The organization also hosts smaller events throughout the year, demonstrating a consistent commitment to charitable causes. In 2024, a Disaster Relief Done Quick event raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.
