New Aladdin Adaptation Takes Horror Turn

Dark Reimagining of Aladdin: The Monkey\

We're entering an era of bold reinterpretations - and another groundbreaking adaptation is coming soon. The Middle Eastern folktale Aladdin will receive a radically different treatment in Aladdin: The Monkey's Paw, which enters production next month. This won't be the cheerful Disney version audiences grew up with.

A Sinister Twist on a Classic Tale

This live-action reimagining promises a "supernatural horror" take on the original legend, featuring Nick Sagar, Ricky Norwood, Montana Manning, and Bradley Stryker in lead roles. Stryker will pull double duty as both director and producer, working from Charley McDougall's script. Filming will occur entirely in the UK, where the story unfolds.

According to Deadline's exclusive report, the film follows:

"A contemporary Londoner named Aladdin inherits an ancient monkey's paw rumored to grant wishes, only to learn each desire extracts devastating consequences. As loved ones succumb to its curse, he must battle both escalating supernatural forces and the demonic entity that thrives on granted wishes."

A Personal Approach to Horror

The creative team emphasizes their emotional connection to this terrifying reinterpretation:

"We sought to craft horror with genuine human stakes - exploring not just frights, but the devastating price of fulfilled desires," McDougall explained. "This concept has obsessed us for years, demanding to be brought to life. Great horror lingers in your psyche - that's exactly what we're creating. The story delivers visceral scares while maintaining emotional intensity and creeping existential dread. This transcends standard genre fare - we're developing an immersive mythology around an iconic framework."

While Disney's beloved 1992 animation remains the most famous cinematic version, Aladdin's legend has inspired countless adaptations across languages and formats. The most recent mainstream attempt was Disney's 2019 live-action remake featuring Naomi Scott (Smile 2) as Princess Jasmine.

No release date has been announced for this horror-infused interpretation, but anticipation is building for this bold reworking of classic folklore.
