Xbox Game Pass Adds New Title on January 21

It's been confirmed that Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders will be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup on Tuesday, January 21. Microsoft revealed the first wave of new Xbox Game Pass games for January 2025 at the beginning of the month, though many subscribers pointed out that the offerings were rather bare.

Indeed, the majority of Xbox Game Pass changes in the first half of January 2025 simply saw a handful of Ultimate-only games shift to the Standard tier. The only notable new additions have been the original Diablo added to PC Game Pass and EA Sports UFC 5 made available to Ultimate tier subscribers. Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement for the Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 games, but we do know of at least one more title that's joining the lineup this month.

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders will be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup on the day of its release, January 21, as a day one game. As typical with day one games since the tier changes, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders will initially only be available to those signed up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. A skiing game, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is bringing co-op and PvP options to the table come January 21.

Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders isn't the only new day one Xbox Game Pass game coming in the second half of January 2025. While the first half of the month was pretty slow, the second half of January 2025 is fairly stacked for Game Pass, with three other day one releases on the way alongside Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders. This includes Eternal Strands on January 28, Sniper Elite: Resistance on January 30, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector on January 31.

Out of these other new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in January 2025, the one that really jumps out is Eternal Strands. An action-adventure game by Yellow Brick Games, a studio led by BioWare veteran Mike Laidlaw, Eternal Strands has serious Zelda vibes. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to try it and all the other new January 2025 games without paying anything beyond what they already do for their subscription.

As far as next month goes, February 2025 is currently looking rather light for Game Pass. We know that Avowed is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on February 18, but otherwise, next month's lineup is a mystery. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can look forward to playing Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, Eternal Strands, and all the other day one January 2025 games while they wait for news on February 2025's offerings.
