After a brief stint on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is shutting down. Activision has announced that the mobile adaptation of the renowned battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or fresh content. As of May 18th, the game has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play Store. Real-money transactions are now disabled, and those who missed the installation deadline will be unable to access the game.
This abrupt conclusion marks the end of a highly anticipated mobile release intended to deliver the complete Warzone experience to mobile-first gamers. Despite the studio's pride in how well the title mirrored the Warzone experience on mobile devices, it seems the game did not resonate with the mobile audience as it did with PC and console players.
For those who have already installed the game, online access and matchmaking will continue past May 19th. However, social features will be turned off, and there's no set date for when the servers will be fully shut down. The in-game store will remain open for now, but only for players with existing COD Points; no new purchases are allowed.
As a small consolation, players with remaining COD Points can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. Until August 15th, by logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, you'll receive double the value of your unused Warzone Mobile COD Points, along with other rewards.
If you haven't installed or reinstalled the game by May 19th, this is your final chance. Post-deadline, no refunds will be available, and the game will become inaccessible. This closure serves as a stark reminder that even the most prominent franchises can struggle to achieve sustained success on mobile platforms.
