Vampire Hunters in Bloodlines 2: What to Expect

The Chinese Room has recently provided a fascinating update on Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, shedding light on the vampire hunters faction known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). This secretive group operates on a shadow budget, lacking official government support, and hunts vampires—whom they refer to as "Hollow Ones"—under the guise of "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."

Leading the IAB's efforts in Seattle is Agent Baker, a disciplined pragmatist who is steadfast in her mission to eradicate vampires permanently. Known as "The Hen" among her followers due to her authoritative nature, Baker meticulously investigates strange occurrences and delves into historical data to uncover the connections to the hidden vampire society.

The hunters of the IAB are a well-coordinated force, maintaining high security around their base with external and internal guards. Confronting them alone is daunting, as they work in teams, use spotlights, and communicate effectively with portable radios. In combat, they wield thermic batons that can bypass defensive tactics and deploy phosphorous grenades to flush enemies out of hiding. Their sniper crossbows shoot explosive bolts, causing significant damage if not quickly removed.

Despite their formidable presence, these hunters have vulnerabilities. They are physically weaker than ghouls and vampires, making them susceptible to specific counter-strategies. For instance, players with the Fire skill can catch grenades or bolts in mid-air and hurl them back at the hunters. Additionally, members of the Ventru clan can use their powers to possess an enemy hunter, turning them against their own team.

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2025, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising players an immersive experience in navigating the dangers posed by the IAB.
