The world of video game movies is littered with more than its fair share of disappointments. Films like the 1993's Super Mario Bros. and 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation have become infamous for their inability to capture the essence of the games they're based on. However, recent years have shown some improvement, with the Sonic the Hedgehog series and The Super Mario Bros. Movie paving a more promising path. Yet, not all attempts have been successful, and some movies, like Borderlands, continue to miss the mark.
