Abylight Studios has exciting news for horror game enthusiasts: they're partnering with Frictional Games to bring SOMA, Amnesia: Rebirth, and Amnesia: The Bunker to the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Frictional Games, renowned for their chilling horror titles, has entrusted Abylight Studios with the task of porting these gripping games to the Switch, thereby expanding their terrifying universe to a new platform.
While Frictional Games is shifting its focus away from horror, their legacy in the genre remains unshakable, particularly with the iconic Amnesia series. Fans have long expressed a desire for more horror games on the Nintendo Switch, and their wishes are about to be granted with the arrival of these three acclaimed titles.
Following successful negotiations, both digital and physical editions of SOMA, Amnesia: Rebirth, and Amnesia: The Bunker are set to launch on the Nintendo Switch in 2025. SOMA delves into sci-fi horror, exploring themes of artificial intelligence and the essence of humanity. Amnesia: Rebirth brings back the series' signature gameplay elements, while Amnesia: The Bunker immerses players in a haunting semi-open world set during World War 1. These games promise to deliver unique scares and immersive storytelling to Switch players.
In addition to these thrilling releases, Abylight Studios has announced that a physical edition of the existing Amnesia Collection will be available for the Nintendo Switch later this year. The Amnesia Collection includes the critically acclaimed Amnesia: The Dark Descent, often hailed as one of the greatest horror games ever made, and its follow-up, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, developed in collaboration with The Chinese Room. Fans are thrilled about the prospect of more horror games on the Switch, although specific release dates for these ports are yet to be disclosed by Abylight Studios and Frictional Games.
As the horror gaming community eagerly anticipates these releases, there's growing curiosity about whether the next Nintendo console will offer an even broader selection of mature-rated games. Stay tuned for updates on the release dates of these Frictional Games titles on the Switch and other horror gaming news.
