Stardew Valley Guide: Crafting Spice Berry Jelly

by Nicholas May 02,2025

*Stardew Valley* is a game that offers a rich tapestry of activities, from farming and mining to fishing. Among these, players can also delve into the art of making their own provisions and preserves, including the delightful Spice Berry Jelly. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to create this tasty treat in *Stardew Valley*.

How to Get the Preserves Jar in Stardew Valley

The Preserves Jar is an essential tool for crafting various preserved goods such as Pickles, Caviar, Aged Roe, and Jelly. You can obtain this jar either as a reward for completing the Quality Crops Bundle in the Community Centre or by reaching farming level 4. With the Preserves Jar in hand, you're ready to transform fruits into delectable jellies, including Spice Berry Jelly during the Summer season. Spice Berries themselves can be foraged in the wild during Summer, found in the Farm Cave year-round, or grown in the Greenhouse using Summer Seeds.

To unlock the Preserves Jar through the Community Centre, you must contribute three out of four “gold quality” crops: pumpkins, melons, corn, and parsnips. Each of these three chosen crops requires five units, all of which must bear the prestigious “gold quality” star. For instance, you could submit 5 Corn, 5 Pumpkins, and 5 Parsnips, ensuring all are of gold quality.

How to Make Spice Berry Jelly in Stardew Valley

To embark on your journey to create Spice Berry Jelly, follow these steps:

  • Gather Spice Berries: These can be found while exploring outdoors in Summer or within the Farm Cave at any time of the year. Alternatively, you can use a Seed Maker to transform a Spice Berry into Summer Seeds for replanting.
  • Build a Preserves Jar: Once unlocked, crafting the jar requires 50 Wood, 40 Stone, and 8 Coal. Remember, completing the Quality Crops Bundle will also reward you with one Preserves Jar.
  • Creating the Jelly: Simply place a Spice Berry into the Preserves Jar. The transformation process will take approximately two to three in-game days (or 54 hours). For optimal efficiency, initiate the process before periods of inactivity, such as sleeping or mining. You'll notice the Preserves Jar "pulsing" as it works its magic.
  • Collect Your Jelly: When the process is complete, the Spice Berry Jelly icon will appear above the Preserves Jar, signaling that it's ready for collection. You can then use the jelly to replenish energy during other activities or sell it for 160 gold.

Crafting Spice Berry Jelly is a rewarding endeavor that adds another layer of productivity to your *Stardew Valley* experience. Not only does it open up new avenues for making your farm more profitable, but it also enriches the vibrant world around you.
