Star Wars: Hunters Shuts Down Before First Anniversary

Star Wars: Hunters has announced its shutdown even before completing its first year, yet it will get to celebrate its one-year anniversary before the final curtain call. The question remains: is a dying game's anniversary worth celebrating? While it may seem bittersweet, it offers a chance for the community to come together one last time and reminisce about their experiences.

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are officially shutting down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game after just nine months since its launch. Players have a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.

Zynga, the developer and publisher, is releasing one final content update on April 15th, introducing the last new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled. The Ranked Mode will continue until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players should use any unspent Crystals as there won't be any refunds.

It Isn’t Shocking

The shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters isn't entirely surprising. The game faced numerous delays since its announcement in 2020 and only conducted beta tests in the SEA and ANZAC regions. A lack of major console support and a lukewarm reception contributed to its downfall.

From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the rich Star Wars universe. Instead of featuring iconic characters, it opted for generic original ones, which may have alienated fans.

If you've uninstalled the game but want to take one last ride, it's still available to download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
