10-Minute Pre-Order Trailer Highlights New Characters and Gameplay

Kojima Productions and Sony announced the release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 9, 2025, in Austin, Texas. The event kicked off with a captivating 10-minute trailer presented by DS2 Director Hideo Kojima. The trailer offered glimpses into new story elements and gameplay, emphasizing the game's ongoing exploration of human connectivity in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Hideo Kojima was joined on stage by PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager, Kristen Zitan, and DS2 actors including Norman Reedus, reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. Fans were quick to spot Neil's resemblance to Metal Gear's Solid Snake, particularly due to his similar headband.

Interestingly, Kojima himself acknowledged this resemblance in an Instagram post from July 2020, noting that Marinelli's appearance with a bandana made him look remarkably like Solid Snake. This new faction led by Neil is poised to play a significant role in Death Stranding 2's storyline.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5. To keep abreast of all the latest updates and news about the game, be sure to check out our comprehensive Death Stranding 2: On The Beach article below!
