EA and Maxis are marking the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting announcement. Fans can now relive the nostalgia as The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 return to PC through the newly released Legacy Collections, available separately or as part of The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection omits the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but compensates with bonus content. The Sims 1 includes a special Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 features a unique Grunge Revival Kit alongside other add-ons.

This re-release signifies the first time in over a decade that both classic games have been easily accessible. Previously, The Sims 1 was only available on physical discs, making it challenging to play on modern Windows systems without extensive effort. The Sims 2, last seen in 2014 as part of the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, was also removed, leaving fans without a digital option until now. With these Legacy Collections, all four The Sims games are now readily purchasable and playable on digital platforms.

Upon their initial release, IGN awarded The Sims 1 a score of 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. Despite the evolution of the series with new features and improvements, the original games remain cherished for their charm, simplicity, and the unique challenges they offer.

Both The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app, allowing fans old and new to dive back into the world of The Sims.
