"Sega Delays Sonic Rumble for Upcoming Update"

by Liam May 14,2025

Despite a dazzling pre-launch crossover event featuring Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other Sega classics, Sonic Rumble won't be making its global debut just yet. The multiplayer battle royale, which has garnered over 1.4 million pre-registrations, has been delayed as Sega focuses on perfecting the upcoming version 1.2 update.

The much-anticipated update 1.2 is set to enhance the toybox world crafted by Dr. Eggman with exciting new features such as Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills. These additions are designed to enrich the core gameplay experience, offering players more than just the thrill of a chaotic win. Rumble Rankings will introduce seasonal leaderboards, rewarding players for their performance, while Crews will enable you and your friends to tackle score missions together. The new Skills system will equip characters with unique abilities, adding a strategic layer to the game.

ytRather than rushing these updates into a mid-launch release, Sega has chosen to delay the game to ensure everything is polished to perfection. In the meantime, a Q&A session is scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where fans can learn more about what's coming and ask their burning questions.

The delay won't affect the rewards promised for pre-registration. Players will still receive 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin for reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration milestone. These rewards will be waiting for you when the game finally launches.
