"Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2 Announce Exciting Crossover"

by Aurora Apr 14,2025

A thrilling crossover has emerged between a Sony property and a Microsoft game, as Sea of Thieves introduces new cosmetics inspired by the universe of Destiny 2, bringing the battle against the Darkness to the high seas.

The Lightbearer cosmetics set offers an array of new items including flags, ship cosmetics, a costume set, and more. The trailer for this exciting collaboration showcases various Destiny references, from the Drifter's distinctive outfit to a ghost playfully dangling off the front of a ship. The Pirate Emporium now boasts a wealth of options for players to deck out their ships and sailors in Destiny-themed cosmetics.

PlaySea of Thieves made its way to PlayStation last year, marking one of several Microsoft properties that have expanded to Sony's console. Destiny, on the other hand, has been a staple on Xbox and continued to be so even after Bungie's acquisition by Sony. This crossover may blur the lines between consoles, but it's undeniably a fun addition. The Drifter's outfit, in particular, seamlessly fits into the world of Sea of Thieves.

Season 15 of Sea of Thieves has recently launched, introducing new encounters, voyages, and additional content to enhance the long-standing piracy experience. Rare's game has not only managed to stay afloat but has also thrived, notably on PlayStation 5 where it topped an EU sales chart upon its release on the platform.

Meanwhile, Destiny 2 has rolled out Heresy and is navigating its way forward after the significant narrative closure in The Final Shape. The space-faring shooter has seen its own share of crossovers, with a notable one being with Star Wars.

Both Sea of Thieves and Destiny 2 have successfully navigated the ever-changing landscape of live-service game production, making this crossover all the more exciting. The Destiny 2-inspired cosmetics are now available in Sea of Thieves, though it remains to be seen if Destiny 2 will reciprocate with any Sea of Thieves-themed content. In this writer's opinion, a grand pirate ship in the vastness of space would be a delightful addition. Just a thought.
