"Schizophrenic Fan Inspired by Arkham Knight, Receives Kevin Conroy

In 2020, a fan of Batman: Arkham Knight who was battling schizophrenia reached out to Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman, through the Cameo service. Expecting a standard 30-second message, the fan was instead gifted with over six minutes of heartfelt encouragement from Conroy. Moved by the fan's personal story and his connection to the game, Conroy went beyond a formal response, creating a video that became a lifeline for the fan during his darkest times.

The fan shared his experience on Reddit, explaining how the game's narrative, where Batman confronts his fears, paranoia, and hallucinations, resonated deeply with his own struggles with schizophrenia. Inspired by the game, he reached out to Conroy to express his gratitude, detailing how the Dark Knight's journey gave him the strength to persevere.

What he received in return was far more than he anticipated. The video from Conroy, filled with genuine support and understanding, became a crucial source of comfort for the fan.

"This video has saved me from suicide countless times. Hearing Batman say he believed in me was incredibly powerful... But as time went on, it became just as important that it was Kevin himself who believed in me," the fan shared.

Initially hesitant to share the video publicly, the fan's perspective changed upon learning that Conroy had a brother who also suffered from schizophrenia. He decided to post the video, hoping it could offer solace and inspiration to others facing similar challenges.

"If someone in his family asks me to delete this video, I will of course do so. But it has inspired me in my toughest moments, and maybe it will inspire someone else. Hang in there. Because Batman believes in you," he concluded.

Tragically, Kevin Conroy passed away on November 10, 2022, at the age of 66. Yet, his legacy and the profound impact of his words continue to resonate with and inspire millions worldwide.
