Is the GTA 6 Trailer 2 too good to be true? Some skeptics have cast doubt on the small print at the end of the trailer, which stated it was captured on a PS5, suggesting the footage might have actually been from a PS5 Pro or a PC. However, Rockstar Games has put those doubts to rest.
In a social media post, the developer clarified that GTA 6 Trailer 2 was captured "entirely in-game" on a PlayStation 5, and it features a mix of "equal parts" gameplay and cutscenes. Here's the full statement from Rockstar:
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.
This confirmation makes GTA 6 even more impressive. The footage in Trailer 2 is astonishingly detailed and, as we now know, was running on a console that's already five years old. By the time GTA 6 releases on May 26, 2026, the PS5 will be five-and-a-half years old.
The developers at Rockstar are showcasing their prowess once again, but their mention of gameplay in Trailer 2 raises questions about which specific moments are considered gameplay. One notable instance, already highlighted by the GTA 6 community, is the transition from what appears to be a cutscene to gameplay when Jason enters his apartment.
In this part is the gameplay about to start?

Fans of GTA 6 are currently dissecting the trailer to differentiate between gameplay and cutscenes. While we await further details, there's plenty more to explore about GTA 6, including new screenshots and emerging fan theories from Trailer 2.
As the release date approaches, speculation continues about whether GTA 6 will launch simultaneously on PC and consoles, especially since the game has been delayed to May 2026.
