Preorder GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080 Gaming PCs Now

by Bella May 19,2025

The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs featuring the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards is now available for purchase. Retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have introduced new listings on their websites starting today. If you're in the market for a complete system equipped with these cutting-edge GPUs, this is your prime chance to grab one, as major OEMs like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) won't release their own models until the end of Q1.

For those seeking a standalone GPU, this isn't the right place. Check out our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find retailers offering them. Be aware that launch-day stocks of GPUs often sell out within hours or even minutes. Retailers have cautioned about inventory shortages, and recent Nvidia GPU launches have been plagued by bots that snap up large quantities for resale at inflated prices.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is similar to the 2024 R16 model but includes minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns along with updated components. The I/O panel is now at the top of the case instead of the front, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel. This change eliminates side panel vents, with air intakes now located at the bottom and front of the case. Alienware is promoting a positive airflow design, which typically results in a less dusty interior. All internal components have been updated, featuring a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Several retailers offer the option to add RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs to select built-to-order systems. New RTX 50-series GPU configurations are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While RTX 50-series systems are readily available this way, keep in mind that built-to-order systems can be quite expensive and are often less cost-effective.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

The major OEM computer retailers will not equip their prebuilt gaming desktop PCs with the new RTX 50-series GPUs until later this year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area 51 gaming PC, which is expected to feature Nvidia's new GPUs, with a launch anticipated in Q1. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 options for its flagship Omen 45L, possibly in mid or late February. Lenovo has not yet announced when it will start adding the new GPUs to its Legion Tower gaming desktops, so there's no expected launch date at this time.

Our RTX 5090 FE and 5080 FE Reviews Are Live

The Nvidia 50-series GPUs were officially announced at CES 2025, focusing on enhanced AI features rather than traditional hardware-based raster performance. DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. These new GPUs offer a modest performance boost, but opinions are divided on their value for PC gamers compared to the previous RTX 40-series cards.

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas noted that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. When it comes to traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 provides one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to make your peace with the fact that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."

PlayIn our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie offers a similar sentiment. "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 doesn’t make a lot of sense – it just doesn’t have much of a performance lead over the RTX 4080, though the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do make things look better in games that support it. However, for gamers with an older graphics card who want a significant performance boost, the RTX 5080 absolutely provides – doubly so if you’re comfortable with Nvidia’s AI goodies."
