Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio are bringing back the 1998 arcade horror classic, The House of the Dead 2, in a fully-remastered form. Originally a unique alternative to the then-popular Resident Evil franchise, this remake offers modern gamers a fresh take on the on-rails shooting experience. Prepare for a visually stunning upgrade, enhanced audio, and a revitalized zombie-slaying adventure.
The original House of the Dead 2, released on Sega arcade cabinets, defined a generation of on-rails zombie shooters. Its gory hordes and intense action cemented its place as an arcade icon and a significant entry in the zombie genre. While previously ported to various consoles (Sega Dreamcast, original Xbox, and Nintendo Wii), this remake promises substantial improvements.
The official announcement trailer showcases the graphical overhaul and remastered music. Players once again step into the shoes of a secret agent battling a massive zombie outbreak. Beyond the core gameplay, The House of the Dead 2: Remake expands with new environments, multiple game modes (including Classic Campaign and Boss Mode), branching level paths, and multiple endings. Single-player and co-op options ensure diverse gameplay experiences.
Launching on Nintendo Switch, PC (GOG and Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, the remake promises a thrilling blend of retro arcade action and modern visuals. The authentic retro feel, complete with high-octane music, bloody effects, and combo counters, is enhanced by a refined HUD. Join the zombie-fighting action when it arrives in Spring 2025.
The resurgence of classic horror games continues, with The House of the Dead 2: Remake joining the ranks of recent Resident Evil remakes and the Clock Tower remaster. Zombie horror fans should eagerly anticipate this and other retro gaming revivals.
