Pokemon Company Addresses Prismatic Evolutions TCG Shortage

The Pokemon Company has acknowledged the widespread shortages of the highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set, expressing gratitude to Pokemon TCG fans for their patience. This marks the first time the company has publicly addressed the issue, which has been a significant concern since the set's announcement in early November 2024.

Prismatic Evolutions, slated for an international release on January 17, 2025, aimed to kickstart the new year with a bang for the Pokemon TCG community. However, the set has faced global shortages, affecting fans in the United States and beyond. In response to weeks of fan feedback on social media, The Pokemon Company issued a statement to IGN, acknowledging the shortage and the challenges fans face in ordering the new products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokemon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," a company representative stated.

Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon

To tackle the shortage, reprints of Prismatic Evolutions are currently in production and are set to reach licensed distributors in the near future. While no specific timeline was provided, the company is committed to resolving the issue swiftly. Although some fans and social media users have pointed to scalpers as the cause, The Pokemon Company attributes the shortages to "high demand" without further elaboration.

More Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon

In addition to the reprints, The Pokemon Company announced that new Prismatic Evolutions products will soon be available. These were initially mentioned during the set's announcement in November 2024. Fans can look forward to a variety of upcoming releases, including a Mini Tin and Surprise Box on February 7, a Booster Bundle and Accessory Pouch Special Collection on March 7 and April 25, respectively, a Super-Premium Collection on May 16, and a Premium Figure Collection on September 26. Moreover, players eager to test the new cards can do so through the Battle Pass in the Pokemon TCG Live mobile game, which will start distributing Prismatic Evolutions cards from January 16.
