Plunderstorm Launch Delayed by World of Warcraft

The much-anticipated second run of the Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has hit a snag, causing a delay due to unforeseen issues. Although the event was initially set to return on January 14, 2025, with exciting pirate-themed battle royale action and both original and new rewards, fans will need to wait a bit longer. The maintenance window, originally planned for six hours, was extended to eight hours, but despite this, the event couldn't launch as expected. Community manager Kaivax shared on the forums that while the team is working to resolve these issues, no new estimated launch time has been provided beyond the hope of having Plunderstorm live before January 14 ends.

While waiting, World of Warcraft players can still enjoy the game's regular servers, which are now back online. You can dive into activities like completing your Siren Isle weeklies, engaging in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other content in The War Within. The new Plunderstorm iteration promises additional features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface, which might have contributed to the unexpected delays. Hopefully, these issues will be resolved swiftly, allowing fans to get back to plundering the high seas.

On a positive note, the delay hasn't affected the availability of World of Warcraft's new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops. Players can still earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. The content doesn't have to be Plunderstorm-specific, giving fans plenty of options to earn this reward while awaiting the event's launch.
