Path of Exile 2: Mastering Rituals for Rewards

Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

Atlas Map Node with Ritual Icon

On the Atlas map, Ritual Altar nodes are marked with a red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, multiple Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. These modifiers might introduce massive rat swarms, life-draining blood pools, or other challenges.

To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after reviewing its modifiers. A large circle will illuminate around the Altar; remain within this zone to defeat all enemies and complete the Ritual. Leaving the circle prematurely ends the event with no rewards. Completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

The "An Audience With The King" currency item, obtained through Ritual rewards, unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss. This item is used at your Realmgate on the Atlas map.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (found in Freythorn). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, and various powerful currencies and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible from the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual events. Points are earned by defeating the King in the Mists. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and increase unique currency drop rates. Increasing boss difficulty is necessary for each new Notable node.

Notable Nodes and Prioritization:

Notable Node Effect Requirements
Promised Devotion 25% increased Ritual Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute and faster appearance of Deferring Favours. N/A
From The Mists 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals N/A
Reinvigorated Sacrifices Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness and deal 10% more damage, but no longer penalize Tribute. From The Mists
Spreading Darkness Always 4 Ritual Altars per map. N/A
Between Two Worlds Rituals always contain a Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute earned). Spreading Darkness
Ominous Portents 25% faster monster waves, but 50% increased chance of Omens in Favours. N/A
He Approaches 20% chance for revived monsters to be Magic or Rare; 50% chance for "An Audience With The King" in Rituals. Ominous Portents
Tempting Offers Extra Favour re-roll; 25% less Tribute for re-rolls. N/A

Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" initially for increased rewards. Then, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for better Omen and "An Audience With The King" chances.

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency for purchasing randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours. Early Favours offer Magic items and low-level currencies; later ones unlock Rare gear and high-tier currencies, including "An Audience With The King."

Omen Currencies: Powerful consumables that modify the effects of other currency items. These are highly sought after.

Beyond Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event. A list of all Omen Currencies is provided above.
