In a recent Unseen interview with Ikumi Nakamura, Hideki Kamiya reignited fan hopes for sequels to Okami and Viewtiful Joe. Kamiya expressed deep regret over Okami's unfinished narrative, stating the story ended prematurely and leaving him with a sense of responsibility to complete it. He directly appealed to Capcom for collaboration on a sequel, referencing a Capcom survey where Okami ranked among the top seven most-wanted sequels. The interview, captured in a YouTube video, highlighted the strong creative bond between Kamiya and Nakamura.
For Viewtiful Joe 3, Kamiya jokingly lamented the lack of response from Capcom despite his own advocacy, even submitting feedback to their survey. He highlighted the incomplete narrative as a key motivator for a sequel.

This isn't Kamiya's first public plea for an Okami sequel. A 2021 interview revealed his initial vision for the game and his intention to address unresolved plot points in a future installment. The subsequent release of Okami HD broadened the fanbase and intensified the demand for a continuation.

The Unseen interview also showcased the dynamic creative partnership between Kamiya and Nakamura, who collaborated on Okami and Bayonetta. Nakamura's contributions to concept art and world-building were instrumental in shaping the unique styles of these games. Their shared history and mutual respect underscore the potential for a successful Okami sequel.

Despite leaving PlatinumGames, Kamiya remains dedicated to game development. Nakamura emphasized the rarity of seeing Kamiya in an independent role, highlighting his unwavering commitment to his craft. The interview concluded with both expressing their hopes for future projects and their lasting impact on the gaming world. The future of Okami 2 and Viewtiful Joe 3 ultimately rests with Capcom's decision, but the interview has undoubtedly fueled fan anticipation.
