"Moon Knight to Return, No Season 2 Planned, Says Marvel Exec"

by Finn Apr 06,2025

Exciting news for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Moon Knight, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, is set to make a comeback, though not in the form of a second season of the Disney+ series. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, while a Season 2 of Moon Knight isn't on the cards, the character will indeed feature in future MCU projects.

Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Initially, the plan was to introduce characters through their own TV shows, setting the stage for their integration into larger MCU narratives. A prime example is Kamala Khan, who debuted in the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel before joining the cast of The Marvels. However, Marvel Television is now adopting a more traditional television model, focusing on shows that can be released annually.

Winderbaum elaborated on this change, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While fans have heard Oscar Isaac's voice as Moon Knight in the third and final season of the Disney+ animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there's no confirmed news yet on his return in live-action.

Looking ahead, the MCU's upcoming TV show lineup includes eagerly anticipated series such as Daredevil: Born Again, set to premiere in March, followed by Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December.

In other news, Marvel Television recently paused production on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at exciting developments, revealing that the company is exploring the possibility of bringing back the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
