Monster Hunter Wilds has quickly risen to become one of the most popular games of 2025, largely due to its compelling narrative, immersive gameplay, and the innovative feature of crossplay. The game's success is highlighted by its remarkable sales figures, having sold over 8 million units within just three days of its release, making it Capcom's fastest-selling title to date.
In a recent interview with The Nikkei on March 10, Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto credited the game's popularity to its strong focus on storytelling and exceptional voice work. Tsujimoto also emphasized the importance of crossplay, which has allowed players on different consoles to come together and enjoy the game as a community. He highlighted the significance of the PC platform, noting its growth in Japan and globally, and stated, "We worked very hard to achieve that this time around. That means the choice is yours on which platform you want to play with, and then [you can just] go online and hunt with your friends."
Despite the praise from Tsujimoto, some fans have expressed differing opinions on the game's story. According to discussions on Steam, a number of players felt that the narrative was hindered by lengthy Seikrit rides and unengaging dialogue. However, these fans also acknowledged that the primary draw of Monster Hunter games has always been the gameplay rather than the story.
Here at Game8, Monster Hunter Wilds has earned an impressive overall score of 90 out of 100. This high rating is attributed to the game's enhancements over its predecessors, including quality-of-life improvements, addictive gameplay, stunning visuals, and a surprisingly engaging story.
