Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 1 million concurrent players on Steam, despite facing mixed reviews. This article delves into the game's performance on PC and the various issues it has encountered since its launch.
Despite garnering mixed reviews on Steam, Monster Hunter (MH) Wilds has attracted over 1 million concurrent players. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds reached an all-time peak of 1,384,608 concurrent players. This figure surpasses the previous records set by its predecessors, with MH World peaking at 334,684 players and MH Rise at 231,360. However, MH Wilds currently holds a Mixed rating on its Steam page, with only 57% of its 54,669 reviews being positive. Many negative reviews cite the game's poor optimization for PC and various performance issues.
In response to the negative feedback regarding MH Wilds' PC performance, Capcom has taken action to address these concerns. On February 28, 2025, Monster Hunter’s official support account, Monster Hunter Status, posted on Twitter (X) to provide solutions to the issues players are facing. The post directed players to MH Wilds’ support website, which offers detailed answers to common problems. Capcom's suggested fixes include updating video/graphics drivers, ensuring the latest Windows updates are installed, and performing a clean installation of the video driver set. For persistent issues, Capcom advises players to refer to the Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page for more detailed steps.
A significant game-breaking bug has been reported, preventing story progression for some players. This bug involves a vital NPC not appearing during Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. Monster Hunter Status acknowledged this issue on Twitter (X) on March 2, 2025, and confirmed that the team is actively working on a fix. Additionally, other issues have been reported, such as the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features not unlocking despite meeting the required criteria, and problems visiting the Smithy. The developers have responded promptly, releasing hotfixes and updates across various platforms to address these concerns.
In MH Wilds, players must use microtransactions to change their characters’ appearance and that of their Palicos. The game offers the Monster Hunter Wilds - Character Edit Voucher Three-Voucher Pack, allowing players to redo their character creation process three times for $6.00, available on all digital storefronts. While players can alter hair, eyebrow color, facial color, makeup, and clothing without additional cost, other changes require purchasing this voucher. Similarly, editing a Palico's appearance requires a separate voucher pack. For those looking to edit both their character and Palico, a $10 voucher is available, offering three edits each. Capcom is also providing a single free voucher for character edits. These microtransactions were not part of the game's testing phase but were announced by Capcom prior to the game's release.
Monster Hunter Wilds is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and information on Monster Hunter Wilds, be sure to check out our related articles.
