How Big Is the Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch File Size?

The highly anticipated *Monster Hunter Wilds* has just rolled out its day-one patch, and it's a hefty one, clocking in at a whopping 18GB. This significant update was first released on PlayStation 5, with Capcom expected to extend it to other platforms soon. While the patch notes are yet to be released, the community is buzzing with speculation about what this update might bring to the table.

One of the leading theories among fans is that the patch will introduce high-resolution textures to the game. Review copies sent out to critics reportedly lacked these detailed textures, which are crucial for the game's visual splendor. The large file size of the update supports this theory, as high-resolution textures demand substantial storage space.

Given that the patch debuted on the PlayStation 5, it's also speculated to include enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Capcom has confirmed that *Monster Hunter Wilds* will be optimized for the PS5 Pro at launch, and incorporating these enhancements in the day-one patch could significantly boost gameplay performance for console players.

Another expected component of this update is a series of bug fixes. Despite Capcom's efforts to polish the game, there are still several issues that need addressing. It's standard practice to deploy these fixes in the initial patch to ensure a smoother gaming experience from the get-go.

Although labeled as a day-one patch, pre-order customers can download it before the official release date. Players with slower internet connections are advised to install the patch before February 28 to guarantee a seamless first playthrough. It's worth noting that this patch, despite its size, is considered a minor update (version 1.000.020) and is unlikely to include new content.

For those eagerly awaiting new content, *Monster Hunter Wilds* has planned post-launch DLC. Three paid DLC packs are on the horizon, but Capcom is also offering two free content updates. The first free DLC, arriving in the spring, will introduce Mizutsune along with new event quests. Additional content, including new monsters and missions, is slated for the summer.

*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28, promising an exciting adventure for hunters everywhere.
