With 33 characters in *Marvel Rivals*, choosing the right hero can significantly impact your gameplay. While victory is possible with any character, especially through team synergy, some heroes demonstrably excel. Based on 40 hours of gameplay across all characters, this tier list ranks them based on ease of effectiveness and climb potential.
This tier list prioritizes heroes who consistently perform well in various situations. Those at the bottom require significantly more skill and strategic team play to succeed.
Hela reigns supreme among long-range fighters. Her high damage output and area-of-effect abilities allow for swift eliminations; two well-placed headshots often suffice. Strategic positioning is key to maximizing her effectiveness.
Psylocke, while requiring more skill, offers comparable effectiveness. Her invisibility allows for flanking maneuvers and strategic positioning for devastating attacks. Her invulnerable ultimate delivers significant area damage, repositionable mid-use.
Mantis and Luna Snow are top-tier support characters, providing crucial healing and bolstering mobile damage dealers. Their protective ultimates drastically improve survivability, while their crowd control capabilities disrupt enemy advances.
Dr. Strange anchors the defense, his shield deflecting even some ultimate attacks. His portal creation unlocks numerous tactical options.
Winter Soldier's ultimate is devastating, dealing area damage and potentially chaining further destruction if enemies die shortly after. However, he's vulnerable while his ultimate recharges.
Hawkeye excels at ranged combat, capable of one-shotting weaker heroes. However, his vulnerability to melee and precise aiming requirements place him below Hela.
Cloak & Dagger's unique synergy provides both damage and support capabilities.
Adam Warlock's instant healing and resurrection abilities are potent, but extended cooldowns limit his team-wide healing capabilities.
Magneto, Thor, and The Punisher require strong team coordination to reach their full potential; otherwise, they become easy targets.
Moon Knight's bouncing damage is effective, but destroying his ankhs disrupts his strategy.
Venom's brute force and building-climbing abilities make him a formidable tank. His E ability, when timed correctly, provides crucial survivability.
Spider-Man's mobility is exceptional, but his fragility limits his overall effectiveness.
Groot's wall-building abilities offer both offensive and defensive options, similar to Fortnite.
Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon, while mobile, offer less effective healing than higher-tier supports.
Magik and Black Panther are potent but vulnerable to mistakes.
Loki's ability to transform is powerful, but it sacrifices the team's expected support healing.
Star-Lord's mobility and versatility are strong, but his fragility and easily interrupted ultimate limit his potential.
Iron Fist's high speed and flurry of attacks make him both effective and vulnerable.
Peni Parker's traps and mobility make her a solid tank, but destroying her nest negates her strengths.
Scarlet Witch's low damage and vulnerability while using her ultimate hinder her effectiveness.
Iron Man's effectiveness is significantly reduced in competitive play due to his vulnerability and slow ultimate.
Squirrel Girl's unpredictable attacks make her reliant on luck.
Captain America and Hulk are weak tanks, easily targeted and lacking significant offensive power.
Namor's reliance on easily-killed monsters limits his overall effectiveness.
Black Widow's low damage and ineffective close-range defense make her struggle in most situations.
Wolverine's fragility requires a significant rework to be viable.
Storm's potential is hampered by her reliance on team coordination.
While D-tier characters can still achieve victory, it requires considerably more effort. Ultimately, choose the character you enjoy most—fun is paramount!
