Marvel Halts Development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Shows

by Benjamin May 23,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly hit the pause button on three anticipated shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. According to sources cited by Deadline, these projects were never officially greenlit and, while they might still see the light of day, Marvel has shifted its focus to other priorities. This strategic pivot comes as Marvel Studios gears up for the launch of the much-anticipated Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, hinted at exciting developments, revealing plans to potentially reunite the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is adopting a new approach by developing more shows than it ultimately produces. As Brad Winderbaum told Screen Rant last year, "We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next." This careful selection process underscores Marvel's commitment to quality over quantity.

The news about Nova is particularly startling, especially since just two months ago, it was announced that Ed Bernero, former showrunner of Criminal Minds, had joined the project as both a writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed as a series for Disney+. Strange Academy was set to explore a magical school founded by the MCU's Doctor Strange, with Wong taking the helm. However, details on Terror, Inc. remain scarce.

As for confirmed releases, fans can mark their calendars for the following Marvel TV shows on Disney+: Daredevil: Born Again premieres on March 4, Ironheart on June 24, and Wonder Man in December. On the film front, three MCU movies are slated for release this year following Captain America: Brave New World: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
