Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to launch alongside the new movie. This update introduces exciting features, including the Engineers taking on the responsibility of caring for Grogu. Additionally, guests will have the chance to explore new planets like Coruscant, alongside familiar destinations such as Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor. This update promises a choose-your-own-adventure-style storyline that will immerse you in the Star Wars universe like never before.

This eagerly awaited update is scheduled to arrive on May 22, 2026, and will offer a unique narrative path distinct from the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. However, it will still feature both Din Djarin and Grogu in new and exciting ways. The storyline kicks off with Hondo Ohnaka discovering a deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, setting the stage for an intense galaxy-spanning chase. Guests will join forces with Mando and Grogu to track down the culprits and claim a bounty, making for a dynamic and engaging adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, one thing is certain: the Engineers will play a more significant role than ever before, tasked with looking after Grogu. This added responsibility promises to enhance the interactive experience of the mission.

To delve deeper into what's in store, we had the opportunity to speak with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama. He provided insights into the exciting features of the update. "Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "So, we think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. We love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama shared, "There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you are strapped for time and have to make a lightning-quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. That's going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to."
