Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts are thrilled as they dive back into Capcom's acclaimed fighting game to test out a new fighter, Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. As of December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6 has impressively sold 4.4 million copies. Despite some fans feeling that the game was lacking in content, the developers have recently delighted the community with the addition of Mai Shiranui.
As the third fighter introduced in the second season, Mai Shiranui's inclusion has significantly boosted the game's popularity. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a stark increase from the previous peak of 24,000 to 27,000 players seen since May 2024. This surge highlights the impact of Mai's addition to the game.
Mai Shiranui is accessible to Battle Pass holders, allowing them to engage with her in various modes. In the World Tour mode, players can develop relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and subsequently test them out in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added, enhancing her appeal and offering fans more customization options.
The excitement doesn't stop there. The Battle Hub welcomes a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned figure and developer in the fighting game community. Players have the opportunity to try out Professor Woshige until March 10. Alongside these additions, the game has introduced new Master League ranks and rewards, further enriching the gameplay experience.
To showcase Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, Capcom has released an engaging trailer that has fans even more eager to jump back into the action of Street Fighter 6.
