The iconic Final Fantasy 7 soundtrack, "One-Winged Angel," made a surprising yet thrilling appearance at Louis Vuitton's Men’s Fall-Winter Fashion Show. This unexpected collaboration brought the worlds of video game music and high fashion together in a spectacular showcase.
The renowned track, which serves as the character theme for Final Fantasy 7's antagonist Sephiroth, opened the fashion show with a live orchestra performance. As models showcased the latest luxury clothing, the grandiose tune set an electrifying atmosphere on the runway.
Pharrell Williams, the show's creative director, was responsible for curating the soundtrack. While the rest of the playlist featured contemporary pop artists like The Weeknd, Playboy Carti, Don Toliver, SEVENTEEN, and BTS' j-hope, "One-Winged Angel" stood out with its epic composition by Nobuo Uematsu. Although Pharrell contributed to the creation of other tracks, his choice of "One-Winged Angel" suggests a personal affinity for the iconic sound, possibly hinting at his own appreciation for the Final Fantasy series.
For those eager to witness this unique fusion of fashion and video game music, the livestream of the event is available on Louis Vuitton's official YouTube channel.
Square Enix expressed their delight at the unexpected feature on the official Final Fantasy 7 X (Twitter) account, stating, "We're more than happy to hear music director Pharrell Williams and team have included One-Winged Angel in the Louis Vuitton Men Fall-Winter 2025 Fashion Show!" They also shared a link to the video, celebrating the crossover.
Final Fantasy 7 holds a special place in the hearts of gamers worldwide, telling the story of protagonist Cloud Strife and his companions as they battle against the megacorporation Shinra and the formidable Sephiroth. Released in 1997, it has become a cherished part of many gamers' childhoods.
The game's legacy was reignited in 2015 with the announcement of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Project at E3, followed by a gameplay trailer at PlayStation Experience later that year. This ambitious project is set to be a trilogy, with the third installment currently in development. The remake offers a fresh take on the classic story, enhanced with modern graphics, new content, dynamic combat, and expanded storylines.
The first part of the remake, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The second installment, "Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth," is playable on PlayStation 5, with a PC version set to launch on Steam on January 23rd.
