Discover the latest updates on Lies of P's Overture DLC and hear from the director about potential future projects inspired by Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test.

Lies of P's Director, Choi Ji-Won, has expressed a renewed sense of creativity after participating in Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. At the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared insights with Eurogamer about the evolution of the Souls genre. As an avid fan of FromSoftware's titles, Choi's admiration is reflected in the design and execution of Lies of P.
Discussing Elden Ring's impact, Choi remarked, "I've tried [Nightreign], and it was a refreshing and innovative experience. It's clear they're exceptional developers who consistently push their creative boundaries. This inspired me to ensure the Overture DLC delivers the best possible experience for our players."
Choi also hinted at future projects, stating, "In terms of our future endeavors, we are definitely open to any sort of consideration, including exploring multiplayer games."

Despite his appreciation for FromSoftware's games, Choi emphasized that his inspirations are not limited to a single title. In an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he explained, "I draw inspiration from a wide variety of games. I take these diverse experiences and blend them into a unique Lies of P experience. It's about creating something special for our fans, combining elements from all the games I love."

Choi revealed that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players around 15-20 hours to complete, packed with numerous bosses and content initially planned for the game's launch. He noted, "Overture is intricately connected to the base game, almost like completing the Lies of P experience. Developing this expansion was a challenging but rewarding process."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to Krat during its last days, following a legendary Stalker. This expansion incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts from the base game, akin to a Director's Cut that feels like the final chapter of the game.
Choi highlighted the importance of quality over quantity, saying, "When we released the base game, we prioritized delivering the best quality possible. The support from our community post-launch motivated us to include everything we wanted in this expansion."

In an IGN interview at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that Overture does not directly connect to the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending provided a glimpse into the future of the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details remain scarce.
Choi assured fans, "When we're ready to share news or assets, you'll know we're prepared to deliver a high-quality experience. We're committed to maintaining our focus on quality amidst all the pressure."

He encouraged players to revisit the base game, as it contains hints about the DLC's content. Choi also acknowledged the community's fan theories, noting that some have come remarkably close to the truth.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for release in Summer 2025, available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates and insights by checking our dedicated article below!
