Koei Tecmo's latest Three Kingdoms game, Three Kingdoms Heroes, is a mobile chess and shogi-inspired battler launching January 25th. The game features a roster of famous figures from the Three Kingdoms period, each with unique abilities and strategies. However, the real draw is the GARYU AI system.
Developed by HEROZ (creators of the champion shogi AI, dlshogi), GARYU is designed to be an adaptive and challenging opponent. Its pedigree, having dominated the World Shogi Championships for two years, suggests a significant leap in mobile AI. While comparisons to Deep Blue inevitably arise, the prospect of facing a truly lifelike opponent in a game steeped in strategic warfare is compelling.
The game's familiar art style and epic storytelling will appeal to existing fans, while its accessible gameplay makes it an ideal entry point for newcomers. The innovative GARYU AI promises a fresh and challenging experience.
