Since its launch in September 2024, *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* has been a hit, especially with its robust post-launch support focusing on enhancing its online multiplayer modes. If you're eager to dive into the latest updates and test new content firsthand, here's your guide to joining the *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* public test server.
It's worth noting that while *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server is exclusively accessible on PC. So, if you're a PC player, you're in luck! Accessing the server is straightforward through Steam.
To get started, simply navigate to your Steam library, find *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*, and you should see the public test server listed directly below the main game as a separate title. Remember, you must own a copy of *Space Marine 2* on Steam to access the test server. Once you've located it, download and install the test server, which comes with its own set of files, distinct from the main game.
The *Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2* public test server is packed with fresh content for both PvE and PvP modes, including new weapons and customization options for players to experiment with. The bulk of the new features are focused on PvE, introducing a new map, relaxed class restrictions on weapons, and tweaks to online gameplay features. Keep in mind, the content, especially the PvE additions, is still in development and may evolve significantly before its official release.
On the online gameplay front, the test server boasts improved matchmaking for both PvE and PvP, with a special emphasis on team balancing. The PvE system aims to minimize instances of players selecting the same class being grouped on one team and includes its own prestige leveling system. Meanwhile, the PvP mode offers expanded customization options in its lobby to enrich the multiplayer experience.
If you've got mods installed for *Space Marine 2*, they won't work in the public test server. Also, any content you create or customize within the test server won't carry over to the main game, as it operates on a separate build. There's no official word yet on whether progression or content from the test server will transfer to the main game, but it's not anticipated.
