J.C. Lee Denies Elder Abuse Claims Against Her

by Elijah May 30,2025

J.C. Lee, the daughter of iconic Marvel creator Stan Lee, recently addressed longstanding allegations of elder abuse for the first time in an interview with Business Insider, categorically denying the claims. The controversy surfaced in 2017 following the passing of her mother, Joan Lee, with the most prominent depiction appearing in a 2018 article by The Hollywood Reporter. The report accused J.C. Lee of exerting financial pressure on her parents and gaining control over their assets. It described contentious interactions between her and Stan Lee, including verbal disputes and even an alleged physical altercation. Supporting these claims were photographs showing a bruise on Joan Lee’s arm, which J.C. Lee has disputed.

In the Business Insider interview, J.C. Lee vehemently refuted the allegations, stating they were fabricated. She explained that she refrained from making an immediate public statement at the time due to counsel from those close to her. "You think I haven't regretted it to this day?" she remarked. "They are all lies. That photo is insane. I never did it."

While J.C. Lee admitted to frequent heated arguments with her parents regarding finances, she emphasized that the situation never escalated to physical altercations. "I never ever touched my parents," she asserted.

Stan Lee passed away in 2018 at the age of 95 due to a heart attack.

The Business Insider interview delves deeper into J.C. Lee’s upbringing as the child of a celebrated figure, her financial struggles, manipulation by others, feelings of isolation, creative pursuits, and her life amidst her father’s enduring legacy.
