The gaming community was abuzz with excitement and curiosity when Neil Druckmann announced his latest project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Fans have been eagerly awaiting more details, and Druckmann recently shed light on the game's setting during an appearance on the Creator to Creator show.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is set in an alternate future that branches off from our own timeline in the late '80s. Central to the narrative is the emergence of a new dominant religion within the Intergalactic universe. Naughty Dog has meticulously crafted the lore of this religion, tracing its journey from the teachings of its first prophet to its subsequent evolution and distortion over time.
This unique religion originates and spreads across a single planet, which eventually becomes isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The story follows the protagonist, who crash-lands on this secluded planet. She finds herself utterly alone, facing the daunting challenge of survival in a completely isolated environment. This theme of solitude and self-reliance marks a significant departure from Naughty Dog's previous works, which often included a companion character for interaction and support. In Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, players will need to navigate and solve challenges independently to find a way off the planet.
Despite being in development for four years, there is still no confirmed release date for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Fans will need to stay tuned for future updates as they eagerly await more information on this intriguing new title from Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog.
